Adderbury resident making a big splash for Help the
Heroes
Louis Hayter, who lives in Adderbury, Oxfordshire, wants to make
a big splash on behalf of Help the Heroes.
Louis plans to swim from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier over
the weekend of 28 August, a distance of 1.4 miles for the charity
Help for Heroes. The actual day of the swim will depend on weather
conditions.
Louis says he want to raise £500 for his chosen charity.
His parents Anton and Kathy Hayter, the licensees of the Crown
and Tuns in Deddington, are fully behind his efforts.
Kathy Hayter said: It is an idea he has come up with all
by himself and we feel that it is the first of many crazy things
to come. You can imagine, we are immensely proud of him and are
trying to drum up as much sponsorship and motivation for him as
possible.
Currently, Louis is training twice a week with the Banbury Swimming
Club. The Outdoor Swimming Society has been in touch to help him
train in the sea.
He is also rowing and running to help build up stamina and help
improve his breathing as he suffers from asthma.
Louis has dreamt of joining the army since he was about three-years
old, so it's no surprise to us that this is the charity he has chosen.
He is even doing a presentation at his school assembly about his
swim. He has the gift of the gab, like his Dad, said Kathy.
Last weekend Louis was at the Hook Norton Brewerys open day
raising money for Help the Heroes.

The charity Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 in response
to the desire of ordinary people to do something practical to help
wounded service men and women.
